Accessibility
Umbwela should work for everyone who wants to build something. That includes people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, screen magnification, or other assistive technology.
Our target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, on this website and in the Umbwela app.
Where we are today
This website and the Umbwela app partially conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That means some parts don't yet fully meet the standard. These are the gaps we know about:
- Some menus and page lists in the app don't always keep your place when you use a keyboard.
- The rich-text editor, the tag input and the date picker in some forms are third-party components and are hard to use with a keyboard or screen reader.
- Signing a project document uses an embedded PDF viewer that may not work well with screen readers.
- The human-verification check on sign-in and sign-up may be hard to complete with some assistive technology.
We're working through these, and we'll update this page as each one is fixed.
If something gets in your way
If any part of Umbwela is hard to use, or you need information in another format, email hello@umbwela.com. Tell us what you were trying to do and what stopped you. We'll help you get it done another way, and we'll use what you tell us to fix the problem.
How we check
We test pages with automated accessibility tools and by hand using only a keyboard.
